QUESTIONS

The things worth asking before you type anything in.

TAMTAE asks you to write down the thing you are most avoiding. That is a reasonable thing to hesitate over, so the awkward questions are answered first and plainly. If you are already using the app and something is broken, support is the faster page.

What does TAMTAE mean?

Task Avoidance Mitigation Through Articulation & Expression. It is pronounced tam-tay. The name is literal: saying the thing out loud, or writing it down, is the mechanism.

What does it actually do?

You say what you are avoiding and why it feels hard, either by talking or typing. You rate how heavy it feels. TAMTAE gives you one card back — what it heard, one thinking pattern worth testing, and one small next move — and then it stops. A session takes two or three minutes.

Is this therapy?

No. TAMTAE is not therapy, diagnosis, or treatment, it is not a medical device, and it has not been clinically studied. It applies a well-established idea — noticing the thought pattern behind a stuck moment — to one specific moment. That is the whole claim.

Does it use AI?

Yes. When you submit an entry, the text is sent to our model provider (Anthropic) and processed to generate one structured response. There is no chat: one entry produces one card, and there is nothing to keep talking to.

Is what I write private?

Your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest, are never used to train models, and never appear in our logs or analytics. They are not end-to-end encrypted, because generating a reflection requires reading the entry — any app offering AI reflection that claims otherwise is misleading you. Voice is transcribed on your device where the device supports it, and raw audio is never kept.

Do I need an account?

No. TAMTAE signs you in anonymously on first launch, so your sessions sync and are recoverable without you handing over an identity. You can add an email later if you want to reach your history from another phone.

What does it cost?

Every install starts with fourteen days of TAMTAE Plus free, with no payment method required. After that, TAMTAE is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, and TAMTAE Plus is $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with a $199.99 one-time lifetime option for Plus. Prices are US dollars and vary by region.

Why is there a daily limit instead of unlimited use?

Each guided reflection is a real call to a language model with a real cost. A plan promising unlimited use would either lose money or quietly throttle you once you used it heavily, so TAMTAE names the number instead: two a day on the base plan, ten on Plus. Limits reset daily and never roll over.

Does it work offline?

Writing and saving an entry works offline, and nothing you write is ever lost. Generating a reflection needs a connection, so if you are offline the entry is saved and you can ask for the reflection later from your history.

Is there an Android or iPad version?

TAMTAE is an iPhone app today. On an iPad it runs in iPhone compatibility mode; a native iPad layout is planned but not shipped. There is no Android version.

What happens if I write something alarming?

If an entry suggests risk of self-harm or harm to others, TAMTAE withholds the reflection and shows urgent-support resources instead, including 988 in the US. That check runs both on your device and on the server, and it is never limited by your plan. TAMTAE is not a crisis service.

Will it nag me, or make me keep a streak?

No. There are no streaks, scores, or leaderboards, and the only notification is a single optional check-in the day after a session, asking how it went. You can turn that off. Nothing escalates and nothing expires.

Can I share this with my therapist?

Yes, if you choose to. TAMTAE Plus can export a Therapist Report — a PDF of a date range you pick — through the normal iOS share sheet. Nothing is ever sent to anyone automatically, and there is no clinician portal or account.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. You can delete every saved session while keeping your account, or delete the account entirely along with all of its data, both from inside the app. Neither is reversible, and neither requires emailing us for permission.
